What we do GEO Audit

Find out what AI tells your buyers.

The GEO Audit shows how AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini describe and recommend your technology brand when buyers research vendors. GEO stands for generative engine optimization. It is the work of earning a place in AI answers.

Colleagues review vendor research on a laptop

The audit is built for marketing leaders at B2B technology companies who need to know what AI answers say about their brand. It reports how often you are visible and how often you are recommended, by AI model and buying stage. It also shows which content to fix first.

How it works

  1. Set the scope

We agree with you on the buyer roles, buying stages, competitors, themes, and AI models to test. Roles can be business decision makers, IT decision makers, or narrower buying roles. Models are chosen per engagement and can include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity.

  2. Run the prompts

We run about 1,500 B2B buying prompts per model across five buying stages, from problem awareness to decision validation. Prompts that name your brand are reported separately from prompts that don’t.

  3. Score the answers

We score each valid answer as recommended, mentioned, cautioned, rejected, or absent. Mentions and recommendations are reported as separate results.

  4. Review the findings

We review the prompt-level results with you and agree which content to fix first.

What you get

  1. An interactive dashboard

Visibility, recommendation, and recommendation rate by AI model and buying stage. Recommendation rate shows how often being seen turns into a recommendation.

  2. Competitor results

Share of voice, plus how your brand fares in answers that also name the competitors you select.

  3. Themes and citations

Theme sentiment and the domains and pages AI answers cite.

  4. A readout and prioritized content

We take you through the findings and the content to create or fix first. They focus on the pages and proof AI answers draw on.

  5. A baseline to measure against

Each audit sets a baseline. A quarterly re-measure is available to track progress.

How to read the results

AI answers change from one run to the next. We treat the results as a directional read. A large set of realistic prompts shows which buyer questions and content gaps to work on first. The scores show direction and gaps. They do not predict traffic.

Frequently asked questions

What is a GEO audit?

A generative engine optimization (GEO) audit measures how AI assistants describe and recommend a brand. Intercept’s GEO Audit sends each selected AI model about 1,500 B2B buying prompts and scores each valid answer. It shows where you are visible, where you are recommended, and which content to fix first.

Which AI models does the GEO Audit cover?

The GEO Audit covers the AI models selected for each engagement. They can include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity.

Why does the GEO Audit use about 1,500 prompts per model?

The GEO Audit uses about 1,500 prompts per model because B2B buyers ask longer questions. Those questions are shaped by their role, their buying stage, and the vendors they compare. The prompts cover five buying stages, from problem awareness to decision validation.

What does the GEO Audit measure?

The GEO Audit measures how often AI models name you and how often they recommend you. It also reports where competitors are recommended instead of you, how AI describes you on each topic, and which pages and domains AI answers cite.

How are AI answers scored in the GEO Audit?

The GEO Audit scores each valid answer as recommended, mentioned, cautioned, rejected, or absent. Prompts that name your brand are reported separately from prompts that don’t.

Can the GEO Audit track AI visibility over time?

Yes. The GEO Audit offers an optional quarterly tracker that measures against the same baseline. Each quarter’s results can then be compared with the baseline. AI answers change from one run to the next. Intercept treats each result as a directional read.
