Microsoft turns more than 25 developer programs into one connected journey
Four pillars, and a personalized path built for each developer team by Microsoft architects

Winning the battle for developers
For any cloud solution provider, developers are a critical audience to win. They decide which tools and technologies get used to build business applications. Microsoft created a series of developer engagement offers, from assessments to hackathons. It was overwhelming, and developer teams were not engaging.
Eight in ten developers report an increase in burnout, and one third say a lack of communication from the team or management is a driving factor. So while developers were in sprint mode, they were struggling to build internal culture. DevBuilder was designed to help developer teams build internal culture alongside their skills, vision, experience and applications. Engagement was measured by a tool Microsoft built that analyzes program participation and cloud usage to score target accounts.
Four pillars, one personalized path
DevBuilder turned more than 25 programs into four pillars. Build your skills offered gamified learning, Build your vision offered interactive discussions with Microsoft leaders and domain experts, Build your experience offered team-based challenges and hackathons, and Build faster offered workshops delivered by expert Microsoft partners.
Cloud Solution Architects made the invitation
Microsoft Cloud Solution Architects, the technical professionals responsible for helping developer teams succeed, invited teams to sign up. A program pitch deck explained the benefits to developer team leads.
Journey Builder personalized every path
Journey Builder let Cloud Solution Architects quickly build a personalized DevBuilder journey for each customer, drawing on hackathons and accelerator offers, and shaped by the team’s business targets and culture goals.
Materials built for white glove support
Cloud Solution Architects received demand generation assets, including email templates and program collateral, plus regular updates on developer team engagement levels and reminders to follow up in order to sustain or accelerate progress.
Playful creative for a gaming audience
The name DevBuilder was crafted to represent the objective of helping developer teams build. Knowing developers over-index on gaming, the campaign used playful creative and iconography to present the offers and experiences.
A new standard
DevBuilder ranked first in the world within Microsoft for the most highly engaged developer teams at strategic accounts, and the model was set for wider adoption.
